AHIMA 2017 Highlights

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is the premier association for health information worldwide. Representing more than 103,000 health information management professionals across the globe, AHIMA supports them through education, training, certification, and other resources to ensure accurate and timely health information for quality healthcare.

In 2017, AHIMA is rolling out many new exciting products and resources to prepare coding professionals for the next frontier in health information,  including CDI, health analytics, informatics, and information governance. AHIMA recognizes the need for healthcare professionals to demonstrate competency in these areas and in addition to its core coding credentials-Certified Coding Associate (CCA®), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P®), and Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-Based (CCS-P®)-has specialty credentials in the areas of CDI (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner-CDIP®), health data analytics (Certified Health Data Analyst-CHDA®), privacy and security (Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security-CHPS®), and health information technology (Certified Health Technology Specialist-CHTS®).

Joining this complement of certifications in 2017, will be AHIMA's newest credential launched in December 2016, the Certified Professional in Health Informatics-CPHI®.  In addition to offering a wide array of resources to help healthcare professionals prepare to sit for and pass these exams, AHIMA will also continue to provide new and innovative "gold-standard" resources to move the HIM profession forward, including webinars, books, in-person and virtual meetings and workshops, and online courses. www.ahima.org
